Porcelain veneers

Thin porcelain shells for front teeth, with minimal tooth preparation and a plan made in advance.

Porcelain veneers are thin porcelain shells bonded to the front surface of the teeth. They change the color, shape and length of front teeth, and the tooth needs only minimal preparation, just enough for the veneer to sit in line with the other teeth.

Veneers are planned in advance. Before they are made we choose color and shape together, and if needed you get a digital or wax preview of your future smile, so you know what to expect before we start.

Veneers can help with

  • Discoloration that whitening cannot fix
  • Small gaps between front teeth
  • Chipped or worn edges of front teeth
  • Front teeth with an irregular shape or length
  • Mild irregularities in tooth position

How veneers are made

  1. 01

    Check-up and plan

We choose color and shape and, if needed, make a digital or wax preview of your future smile.

  2. 02

    Minimal preparation

A thin layer is removed from the front surface of the tooth, as much as the veneer needs. How much depends on the case.

  3. 03

    Impression or scan

We take an impression or scan your teeth digitally, and the veneers are made to measure.

  4. 04

    Trial fitting and cementing

We check color, shape and bite, then cement the veneers to the teeth.

  5. 05

    Check-up

At the check-up we look at your bite, your gums and how the veneers feel.

Veneers or crowns

Veneers and crowns solve similar cosmetic problems, but they are not the same. The choice depends on the condition of your teeth.

Veneers

For front teeth with a healthy structure that need smaller changes in color, shape or length. Tooth preparation is minimal.

Crowns

When a tooth is badly damaged, has a large filling or has had root canal treatment. A crown covers the whole tooth and protects it.

Hollywood Smile

In our clinic a Hollywood Smile means ceramic crowns on the front teeth, not veneers. Veneers are a separate service.

Caring for veneers

Veneers are cared for like natural teeth: regular brushing, flossing and check-ups. Avoid biting nails, pens and other hard objects, and do not open packaging with your teeth.

If you grind your teeth, we recommend a night guard, which protects both the veneers and your teeth.

Questions about veneers

How long do veneers last?

With good hygiene and regular check-ups veneers last for many years. How long exactly also depends on habits such as grinding your teeth.

Does getting veneers hurt?

Preparation is minimal and is done under local anesthetic when needed, so you feel no pain during the procedure. Mild sensitivity for a few days after cementing is possible.

Do my teeth have to be ground down a lot?

No. Preparation is minimal and covers the front surface of the tooth. The exact amount depends on the case, and we agree on it at the check-up.

What if one veneer breaks?

Only that veneer is replaced, the others stay as they are. Contact us as soon as you can so we can look at the tooth.

How much do veneers cost?

The price depends on the number of veneers and on the case. After a check-up and an X-ray you get the plan and price before treatment begins.
